Hi, I'm Jeffrey
Welcome to my E-Portfolio.
About me
I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, moving at an early age from Deep River, Ontario. I enjoy any chance to learn new things, with every new experience providing a different perspective and new ideas. I had the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of topics when I began my Bachelor of Applied Science in Materials Engineering at the University of Toronto in 2015, later graduating with honours in 2020, just after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterwards, I joined Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario to pursue a Master of Applied Science in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, which I started in January of 2021 and successfully defended in September 2023.
Personal interests
I greatly enjoy creative thinking activities. During my free time, one of the things I like to do is play a wide variety of puzzle games, solving challenges based on the provided constraints. I particularly enjoy sandbox-type puzzle games, where a basic set of tools is provided that are used to develop more complex operations to complete a given objective within a confined system. These games involve testing and optimising for the most efficient solution, and provide immense satisfaction when efforts pay off. I also enjoy playing a variety of board games when the opportunity arises, and I like to play chess casually, after having played semi-competitively for several years before starting university.
At Queen's, I had joined both the Badminton and Karate clubs, continuing some activities I was involved in when I was younger but did not have time to pursue during my time at Toronto. I had also joined the Archery club to learn something new, as I had previously been interested in archery but did not have much opportunity to try it out. These activities also allow me to meet and interact with a wide variety of different people. While I would not consider myself an overly social person, I still enjoy meeting new people and participating in activities in casual settings.
